Recommended ACE hardware which is selling the foam tape (AC insulation tape or sponge tape)
1. dashboard - all possible plastic part, try to open and tape with the sponge tape
2. ash tray - remove inner compartment, this compartment is making a lot of friction between the compartment. Stick a layer of AC superlon inside after removed the inner compartment before u put in coin, assuming you did not use this as ash tray.
3. centre console drink holder holes, put a layer of superlon or anti slip matt to avoid any thing u put in which can make noise, such as keys, handphone. (refer smliu DIY later)
4. dashboard - driver side front storage compartment, all edging at the cover, stick a layer of sponge tape to a void friction and rubbing between this hard plastic dashboard.
5. dashboard - if you have upgraded to DVD player, the player may not be fully fitted to the CE original player compartment, during ride on bumpy road will create further friction between the plastic and the player casing. Suggest you to request the installer to wrap the DVD player casing edging with a layer of sponge tape, this definitely will help to reduce the rubbing. In addition the bunch of wiring supply for the DVD player also can wrap with foam sheet which may help to reduce the friction between wiring and plastic part inside the dashboard which u cannot see.
6. all door compartments including the 3rd row side storage compartment, especially the cover can make noise on bumpy road, suggest u stick a layer of foam at cover edging which rubbing the storage box, this definitely will help reduce the friction of plastic product.
7. all compartments, place in a layer of 3 to 5 mm layer of superlon or anti slip matt inside which can help to reduce the friction while you family member slot in key, handphone etc etc inside the storage.
8. centre grove box, this stupid and easily pop up compartment, place a layer of anti slip matt inside and stick all round to avoid anything u put inside moving.
9. the safety belt plastic holder and the header may also make noise, especially no body is driving with u, the dangling safety belt can be easily hitting the plastic panel at the door. This one have yet to got idea to solve .. any suggestion?
10. 5th door, metal frame door come with plastic cover, the whole door frame come with few pieces of plastic cover which can also make noise on bumpy road, what u can do is slot in some sponge or superlon to stop the friction between the parts.
11. front passenger side storage compartment, place a layer of superlon inside wrap all round to make sure that your things place inside doesn't hitting the plastic part or hitting each other and create noise.
12. front passenger side storage compartment, use the sponge to stick at the cover edge which can rub against the plastic compartment edge.
13. If you remove your door panel for repair inside, try to install the door clip that come with a layer of cushion foam, this cushion clip can actually help to reduce the noise during driving and especially on bumpy road. However if u cannot find the cushion clip, use the wind screen silicone to stick on the hole b4 install the normal door clip, this method was suggested by smliu long ago and it is very effective to reduce the plastic friction inside the door.
14. under the steering wheel, there is a removable plastic cover also can create plastic friction noise, suggest to stick a layer of sponge tape in between the panel where both plastic can rub each other, this surely can reduce the friction noise.
